squee! :> That is awesome. I’ve really been on a bird kick lately, birds are so rad and inspiring. (I also have a bird tag on my secondary blog.) Also, a dang awesome artist, Adoradora, has some bird (and other animal) inspired characters, I may have been influenced by their work more lately.
And thank you! I’m personally super fond of bugs and arthropods of all kinds. I’ve heard of people seeing bugs and being reminded of my characters and that is adorable.
The other night I had a bizarre dream in which I was watching some sort of educational, musical cartoon for children, explaining that people apparently just grow on trees before they’re born into “real life.”
But there’s one tree that nobody talks about. Only evil men grow on it, and nobody wants them, so they’re never born. They just stay on their tree and keep growing there, forever, thinking their evil things.
I can’t remember how the song about it went, but I remember it built up to a loud ominous chorus of “THE TREE OF EVIL MEN” when it was shown to us, and the image of it is vivid in my mind, so I drew it:
But apparently my subconscious was just thinking of Spoony and probably really missing Daddy Long-Legs.
This is hilarious and horrifying, I can’t stop laughing. What an awesome dream. (if there’s one thing I love, static images show in dream are quite memorable and almost vivid enough to be replicated!)
Aww, man. I keep coming up with other monsters that my buggy peeps get left behind D: BUT when I get a bug kick again I’ll be sure to do some DLL stuff again.

I really like seeing how a character dreams! But dreams as a straight-up flashback (or with REALLY OBVIOUS metaphors) are dumb.

Well, maybe it’s not dumb. But dreams should have some mystery to them and hitting the audience over the head isn’t always necessary. Maybe one or two clear metaphors are good but more than that and it’s too “scripted”? I hope this makes sense.
